Light Sabers, Swords, Baseball Bats, and Hobby Horses

Here is a solution for all of those toys that are long, stick-like and difficult to find homes for. An umbrella stand! Look at the thrift or discount store for a simple umbrella stand. If it is ugly, just give it a quick spray paint finish in a color that will match your child's room.

Second Hand School Cubbies

Someone in our area went to an auction and bought several pieces of furniture from a school, including 8 coat cubbies. We came across their ad on Craigslist and bought the last of the 8. It is perfect for right inside our door. I've labeled each cubbie with a boys' name.

Now That I Have Readers...

I can finally label things.
I've just labeled the drawers in my boys' room. There are three boys sharing one room and two dressers, so things can get messy real fast. I labeled each drawer so that each boy has a drawer for shirts and one for pants. Also labeled, are two drawers for pajamas. I've tried to do this before when they were younger without success and labels ending up on the floor. On top of one dresser are two dish pans, one labeled for socks and the other for underwear.

Can't Have Enough Dish Pans!

I have discovered a very affordable organizing container, the dish pan. It is sold for just a buck and some change and seems to be the right size for so many things. The design is simple and clean.
I have been labeling dish pans for socks, underwear, mittens, hats, etc. And, it has worked out nicely so far. I line them up on top of dressers and cubbies. I have also been using them in the kitchen to hold bags of grains/pastas and kitchen gadgets that I don't have a drawer for.
Pictures to come!
